Muscle Minute #14: The 4 AM Mentality
“I turned my coal mining experience into a drive to do something else.”
Everyone needs to learn how to work. For me, it started by watching my mom juggle multiple jobs, day in and day out. I saw it again when my grandfather took me to the gym, and when I read about Arnold’s routines. But the real punch hit during my first double shift—600 feet underground. I walked in before sunrise, worked all day in the dark, and left in the dark. That moment made me realize what “hard work” really felt like—and I decided to pour that drive into what I love.
Here’s a quick experiment if you want to feel it, too:
- 3:20 AM: Wake up, day 1.
- 4:15–4:45 AM: Workout.
- 5:15–6:15 AM: Conditioning with an audiobook.
- Then: Get ready and go to work.
- After 30 days: See how you feel—body, mind, and overall discipline.
I promise, once you tap into that level of work, you’ll know if you’re willing to keep pushing or not.
